Advertising Ploys Going Too Far?

SPAM in my snail mail box—what most people call “junk mail.” Unsolicited marketing messages from companies I have no relationship with. Most of the time I do what the majority of people do and that is sort through my mail over the recycling bin. Yesterday, however, I saved a piece because it’s pandering was so over-the-top it floored me.

When Should it be an E-book?

Self-published books are the new business cards. At least, according to the latest entrepreneurial bandwagon. The problem is that not every idea, or even collection of blog posts should be an e-book or a self-published print tome. Choosing the wrong message for the media can actually hurt your reputation—or make you a good illustration of the quote, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.”

Judge Rules that Blogging Does Not Equal Journalism

A US District Court Judge in Portland, Oregon has ruled that a blogger who wrote critically about a finance firm is libel for defamation, and is not protected under Oregon journalism shield laws.
