Angela Teaches Web Marketing Classes at the Bethesda Writers' Center

December 24, 2007

Bethesda, MD - Web developer and internet marketing consultant, Angela Render, will teach seven new classes at the Writers' Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Registration is open for the following classes:

Building a Web Platform: Introduction to Platforms - Getting published is hard, especially for a first-time author. What if you could include on your query letter, "I have a blog that receives 40,000 visitors a month and an e-newsletter with 10,000 subscribers." 40,000? That's a print run. Publishers want you to come with a platform and this workshop will discuss what a platform is and when to start building it. It will also give a brief overview of the tools available to writers for building a platform on the Web, and discuss internet privacy and copyright. Participants will brainstorm what types of internet media might be right for them to use.
Saturday, January 26, 2008 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (15 seats) [Register Now]

Building a Web Platform: Websites for Beginners - Participants will gain a better understanding of what a Web site is, what it should contain and how it should function. Topics will include look and feel, and form and function. Examples of well and poorly formed Web sites will be provided, as well as vocabulary and tips on how to use some of the available free template software.
Saturday, February 2, 2008 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM (15 Seats) [Register Now]

Building a Web Platform: Blogging for Beginners - This class will go into more detail about blogging. It will cover several blogging software options, the basics on how to set up a blog, how to post and how to insert images. Participants will get a feel for what type of content should be included in a post, how to organize their content, how to invite comments and how to promote themselves on other people's blogs. The class will brainstorm topic ideas for their own blogs.
Saturday, February 2, 2008 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (15 seats) [Register Now]

Building a Web Platform: Getting Found - This workshop discusses techniques for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), both paid and free, as well as integrating various web media and finding places to promote your Web presence both online and offline. Participants will learn how a blog and a Web site can work together to help build their platform. The class will also address how to use Web traffic analysis tools to judge how well sites are performing and what numbers an editor is interested in knowing about.
Saturday, February 9, 2008 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM (15 seats) [Register Now]

Building a Web Platform: Advanced Marketing - This class will focus on building a mailing list. Advanced techniques for collecting prospect data will be discussed and participants will begin to design sales and marketing packages.
