Blogging offers fast, cheap, easy access to a Web presence that even a technophobe can stomach. Learn the what, why, and how right here.

    Ways to make sure your presentation doesn’t turn readers away. Text formatting, choosing a color scheme, and editing and uploading photos.

Workshops



Introduction to Marketing Platforms - Getting published is hard, especially for a first-time author. Publishers want you to come with a platform and this workshop discusses what a platform is and when to start building it. It also gives a brief overview of the tools available to writers for building a platform on the web, and discuss internet privacy and copyright. Participants brainstorm what types of internet media might be right for them to use.

Websites for Beginners - Participants gain a better understanding of what a website is, what it should contain, and how it should function. Topics include: look and feel, and form and function. Examples of well and poorly formed Web sites will be provided, as well as vocabulary and tips. Participants will leave ready to develop their own website.

Blogging for Beginners - This class discusses what a blog is and how it differs from a website. It covers several blogging software options, the basics on how to set up a blog, how to post, and how to insert images. Participants get a feel for what type of content should be included in a post, how to organize their content, how to invite comments, and how to promote themselves on other people's blogs. The class brainstorms topic ideas for their own blogs and participants leave ready to begin blogging.

Blogging Tips and Tricks - An intermediate level workshop that is best suited for people who are already blogging and want to take their blogs to the next level. Students learn techniques to improve their posts and their exposure. Basic graphics editing, search engine optimization (SEO), and ways to come up with sustainable topics to write about will be discussed.

Getting Found - This intermediate workshop discusses techniques for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), as well as integrating various Web media, and finding places to promote your web presence both online and offline. Participants learn how a blog and a website can work together to help build their platform. The class will also address how to use web traffic analysis tools to judge how well sites are performing.

Advanced Marketing - This class focuses on building a mailing list and finding avenues for free advertising. Advanced techniques for collecting prospect data will be discussed and participants begin to design their own sales and marketing packages.

Designing a Roadmap Workshop - This advanced class covers individual platform needs and how to design a personalized marketing campaign. Participants leave with a strategy for building their platforms and marketing their work. (Small number of seats for personalized attention.)

Making Your Web Presence Work Better - Participants submit their existing URLs to be analyzed in class by internet marketing professional, Angela Render.
